Welcome to ESDi, Higher School of Design!

If you have an original mind, creativity in your soul, and an independent spirit, then you will love exploring one of the most influential universities for design and fashion in Spain. Founded in 1989, ESDi was the first university in Spain to impart an Official Undergraduate Degree in Design. Innovation is at the heart of all we do, so it is no surprise we are at the forefront of the creative and technology sector. We promote innovation, knowledge, and improvement in the field of Fashion Management, Styling and Fashion Communication, Footwear Design, UI/UX Design and Digital Art Curatorship.

Our campus is located in the centre of Sabadell (Barcelona) and we have more than 14.000 m2 of facilities equipped with specialized workshops and tech labs focused on additive manufacturing and 3D printing, immersive and holographic virtual reality (powered by HP), and digitalization of textile design. ESDi is the largest design campus in Barcelona, and the facilities have adopted all the necessary measures to guarantee the health of our students and professors. Most of our Masters are imparted in the School of Arts and Fashion Techniques (EATM), a centre with an experience of over 50 years in fashion and styling located on Passeig de Gràcia, the most important shopping avenue in Barcelona. A very inspiring place full of design and luxury, where fashion meets culture and architecture.

Barcelona’s offer in culture and creativity will amaze you; from theatre and opera to contemporary dance and underground festivals. The art scene of the city includes constant exhibitions at museums, art galleries, and music venues and festivals such as Sónar, Primavera Sound, and International Jazz Festival. Also including design festivals, such as Blanc Fest, OFFF Barcelona, Typo Berlin, The Influencers, etc.

Easy to get around

Barcelona’s public transport system is reliable and easy to navigate. Metro, buses, trains and trams operate throughout the city and its suburbs so you won’t have any problem going around Barcelona and discovering other close cities and towns. Plus, the city is starting to get bikefriendly little by little. There are plenty of places to rent this type of sustainable transport. Barcelona is the perfect base from which to explore many Europe’s finest cities and regions.

All two ESDi campuses are at the heart of their local neighbourhoods, so you will be perfectly placed to enjoy these dynamic communities and all that Barcelona & Sabadell has to offer.

New design hub in Sabadell

We're developing a new talent, innovation and smart design hub in the building adjacent to our Sabadell campus. Aimed at students, professors, companies, research teams and citizens, the hub will integrate a coworking area with experimentation spaces for emerging design companies, and a co-living project.

From 2021, the hub will become a meeting point between the university and the companies for the integration between ideation, design and business. In addition to a strong emphasis on the empowerment of start-ups and creative talent, and the dissemination of expertise, the creation of spin-offs promoted by the university will be strengthened.

FAQs

Q: If I study a Master’s Degree offered in the Barcelona campus, can I use the facilities of ESDi Sabadell?
A: Of course! As a student of ESDi, you have access to all of our campuses and facilities. We strongly support proactivity and an interdisciplinary approach of our students!

Q: Are there scholarships available for international students applying to ESDi?
A: Yes, ESDi values greatly the academic effort and professional experience of their students. Request more information about our scholarships!

Q: Can I apply for an internship when studying a Master’s Degree at ESDi?
A: Yes, you can. In some of our programs the internships are not mandatory, but you can still apply for them. Our Career Services team will give you access to the current openings, but we strongly encourage you to be proactive and look for opportunities that go in line with your passion and professional goals.

Q: I need a student visa to study in Spain. Will the university help me with the process? 
A: Yes, once accepted to the program, the Admissions Team will provide you with all necessary documents to support your student visa application.

Career Services

ESDi is a university center with an international model. This is achieved by means of excellent academic training that equips our students to meet professional challenges at a national and international level. We have collaboration agreements with relevant companies within the design sector, such as Everis, Max Mara, Tendam, or Fotocolectania. Our Career Services help to facilitate the process of entering the job market and improve the career trajectory of our students and alumni, through personalized attention, orientation courses, recruiting sessions with companies, and the use of a virtual platform.

Thousands of our students and alumni are making waves across their professions, with many picking up industry awards: Laus Awards, ADI Medal, DMY International Design Festival Berlin, Redress Design Award, Apolda European Design Award, 080 Barcelona Fashion... We have launched the careers of many creative and cultural leaders like @folchstudio or @zegarciaoficial, and our alumni are working in important companies around the world, such as @palomawool, @marinaserre_official, @ibm, @pentagram, @gameloft or @disneyanimation.

Supporting International Students

The dedicated International Team will provide you with all the support you need from the moment you apply, and our Student Advisor will guide you in your onboarding process as a point of contact for your questions regarding academic issues, life on campus, or organizing your life in a foreign country. We have collaboration agreements with housing platforms like Badi or Erasmus Play, in order to provide our international students a secure room rental experience.
