Student Life

UPWr is home to almost 8,000 students, including a few hundred international students from all over the world. The university follows the principles of equal opportunities and non-discrimination, including accessibility for people with disabilities and equal opportunities for women and men. The university makes every effort to enable the mobility of staff and students within international educational and research projects, as well as under bilateral agreements with universities, institutions and companies in the European Union and abroad.  Students are also encouraged to participate in one of a few dozen student research groups and societies. After class, students can take full advantage of the univerisities location, which is Wrocław, the biggest city in western Poland. Situated on the Odra river, it is a unique city with 12 islands and 112 bridges. Being the most important city of Lower Silesia, it is its administrative, economic and cultural capital. Wroclaw is a young, vibrant, and open city, called ‘The Meeting Place’, where everyone can feel welcome. The city is an important academic centre with 28 higher education institutions, with around 130 thousand students. Wrocław was the European Capital of Culture in 2016 and won the competition for the European Best Destination in 2018, which means it offers not only education, but the full student experience to all who decide to study there.
