Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore is the largest private university in Europe with campuses in Milan, Rome, Brescia, Piacenza and Cremona.

MILAN: modern and progressive

Library

As in any university, the library is the place where study, research and cultural contact all meet. The library system of the Università Cattolica is one of the most prestigious in Italy. It is currently supported by all kinds of modern technology, including an electronic catalogue that can be consulted over the web.

Multimedia Library (Mediateca)

It is an innovative structure where students can consult rich collection of streaming video, original DVDs, recordings from satellite and digital terrestrial, online databases on specific subjects. The Multimedia Library is specialized on: cinema, theatre, television, advertising, video art, music and documentaries. It is located in the main campus (Gemelli), at Gregorianum building, ground floor.

Computer rooms and internet access

Computer halls around campus allow for internet access either on fixed desktops or personal laptops (wall connection or Wi-Fi if available). 17 computer rooms are usually open all day until 9:00 PM. Cattolica provides wi-fi in areas of the main building. Some areas of the main cloisters have wi-fi from 7.00 am until 10.00pm.

Language Center – Servizio Linguistico di Ateneo

The Servizio Linguistico di Ateneo (SeLdA) offers a variety of support language courses to International and Italian Students, to faculty and staff. Currently the Language Centre also offers language training in the following languages: Italian, French, Chinese, Spanish, Russian and German. Student Associations

Adapting to a new culture can be exciting yet challenging. The student associations wil help you feel like at home!

ESN (Erasmus Student Netwok)

The student association ESN (Erasmus Student Network) is going to welcome you in Milan upon arrival, during the Orientation Events, and will assist you throughout the semester/year. Some of the activities organized include: language sharing, assistance in finding an apartment, trips, aperitivo and dinner, cultural events, sporting activities, city tours, nights out.

Buddy program

UCSC International in collaboration with ESN is offering International Students the opportunity to join the Buddy Program. The Buddy Program is aimed at creating the opportunity for International Students to meet Cattolica domestic students in order to simplify the transition into the campus life and to help them get the best out of their cultural and social life during their study abroad experience. In addition, the program encourages Cattolica domestic students, offering them the opportunity to meet International Students, whilst developing intercultural communication and linguistic exchange. International Students will receive specific communication before their arrival inviting them to subscribe to the Buddy Program if they are interested in having a UCSC Mentor.

Cattolica Health Centre

General, specialist (gynecology, ophthalmology, diet) and preventative medical examinations are available to students. During the center's opening hours, the Nursing Service is always on hand to administer first aid, medication, and prescribed drugs, measure blood pressure, take body temperature, provide information about local health services, and give health advice. Access is free, no appointment needed.

Centro universitario sportivo (CUS)

The CUS (Centro Universitario Sportivo) has 11 division teams, athletics, rugby, tennis, sailing, swimming and water polo, ice hockey, rowing, canoeing, volleyball, softball and basketball, and a number of fitness courses that are open to any student at any level. CUS Milano is the perfect place for anyone who loves sport: it offers the chance to participate in the various activity sections and sports clubs either on a recreational or a competitive basis. And that's not all: CUS Milano also organises tournaments between the various university faculties, and both summer and winter international sports meetings with representatives of foreign universities and campuses.

Studium Musicale di Ateneo "Note d’inChiostro"

Do you want to sing in a choir? Can you play any musical instrument and would you like to be part of an ensemble? The musical community “Note d’inChiostro” offers to all students and international students the possibility to follow a music-cultural itinerary, with the collaboration of some of the professors of the Athaeneum together with some experts of the concerned disciplines.

Our instrumental and vocal soloists together with the Choir and the Ensemble are available for all the University institutional educational and cultural events, taking place at the University or outside. “Note d’inChiostro” organises concerts, courses, seminars, academic laboratories and Summer Schools.

Chapel and Pastoral Center

The Pastoral Center is part of Università Cattolica and is open to any student who might be interested in joining its activities, including charity work.
The main aim is to support the communication between culture and the Catholic religion. There are priests and vicars willing to listen and talk to people needing spiritual counselling, thus making the Center a place of prayer and education.

Religious associations and groups of volunteers collaborate with the Pastoral Center and give their own contribution.

Cafeteria

Students can eat their meals at the University cafeteria, located inside Collegio Sant’Isidoro (first floor). In the cafeteria there are 340 seats divided in two rooms with air-conditioning. Among the various dishes offered, you will have the opportunity to try the typical regional food of Emilia-Romagna, in particular of Piacenza and its surrounding area.

University Cafés

Between lessons you can have a break at our café, located inside the main building. Our staff will be happy to serve you typical Italian coffee for breakfast or prepare your lunch. Another café is located outdoor, next to Collegio Sant'Isidoro. At the café it is also possible to plan Happy Hours with your friends and for graduation toasts.

Library/Study Rooms

Piacenza campus library was born in 1953, together with the former Faculty of Agriculture (today Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences). Each Faculty has its own library. There are currently 100,000 books (among them, over 2,800 FAO publications since 1978) and 3,500 newspapers from all over the world. The library has an online catalogue and an online database. The library is open to the public. You can also use the private study rooms located around the campus.

Smint Piacenza

Smint Piacenza is a student association, comprised of both Italian and international students. The association helps students from all faculties get together, assists new students become familiar with Piacenza and its surrounding area, to be on familiar with the campus, and in particular to make the most of the university experience through different activities.

"We are called SMINT (International Management Students) and we are the official student association of UCSC Piacenza. We organize social events for UCSC students, including the Integration Weekend, running dinners, happy hours and parties to make your student life more enjoyable! We are waiting for you in Piacenza to welcome you in this sparkling town in order to enrich our group with your presence, your ideas and your creativity. Sports Center

The University Sports Center, Centro Polisportivo Universitario, recently opened at Università Cattolica’s Piacenza campus, offering tennis, football, basketball, volleyball, handball, and weightlifting facilities, together with three artificial rock-climbing walls.
Thanks to the Associazione sportiva universitaria europea (ASUP) association, students can participate in sports competitions.

ROME: the Eternal City

Library

The Rome Campus library was founded in 1961. Today, the library holds over 251,000 volumes and 7,000 periodicals (of which, about 4,000 are current). The total reading area covers 2,600 sqm and numbers more than 400 available seating places distributed in five reading rooms.

Guest-students will receive a magnetic badge valid for the whole period of stay in Cattolica. The badge can be recharged by the machine located beside the entrance of the cafeteria and in the hall of the "Istituti Biologici."

Restaurant "Sala delle Colonne"

    Location: near the "Istituti Biologici" by the "Centro Congressi" (Congress Centre)

    Opening time: Monday to Friday, 12.00am - 3.00pm

Cafeterias are located at the Policlinico "A. Gemelli", 4th floor, and at the "Istituti Biologici," basement.

"SpazioVivo" Cultural Centre

The "SpazioVivo" Cultural Centre organizes cultural and recreational activities. Among other things it promotes and organizes concerts, art and photographic exhibitions, theatrical productions, literary competitions, meetings with authors, and guided cultural tours.

International Student Unions

S.I.S.M. (Segretariato Italiano Studenti di Medicina) is a non-profit association of medical students founded in 1970; nowadays it is present in 34 italian universities and is affiliated with I.F.M.S.A. (International Federation of Medical Students' Associations), an association of medical students that counts members worldwide.

Health Services

Università Cattolica's Health Center provides all enrolled students medical care free of charge.

Sport Facilities

The campus offers students a football field, three tennis courts, a volleyball court, a basketball court, a 5-a-side field, a gym for judo and gymnastics.

FAQs

Do I need to speak Italian to study at Università Cattolica?
Università Cattolica programs are fully taught in English, so you don't need to learn Italian to study with us, but we highly recommend that you learn the language (at least a survival level!) as you’ll be able to navigate daily activities in Italy. There are numerous ways life will become easier (restaurants, public transportation, part-time job, internship, etc). Most importantly, when you start to learn a language, that’s when you start to understand a culture.

 

How are tuition fees calculated in Università Cattolica?
A flat tuition fee is applied to international students residing outside the European Union and associated states.
For European residents, the annual tuition fee is calculated on the basis of the financial background of the student’s family (n° of family members and nature/amount of yearly income) and the cost of the chosen degree program.

 

Do you offer any scholarships?
Candidates can request the “UCSC International Scholarship” while filling out the online application. The UCSC International Scholarship is an annual tuition fee reduction promoted by Università Cattolica in order to foster the access of international student to the degree programmes.

 

Is there an application fee to pay?
The application fee is 160€ (non-refundable) for Medicine and Surgery and 75€ (non-refundable) for all the other programs.

 

How has the University been organised to protect the students’ health and safety for the current Academic Year?
Each classroom will have a limited capacity in accordance with current legislation and the Università Cattolica’s health and safety protocols, in order to guarantee social distancing. Each class room with fixed desks will have coloured stickers indicating the places available and the ones not to be used. In classrooms with removeable furniture, the number of seats present will be limited.
The University will be able to reorganise the classrooms during the term, according to any changes in the regulations.

 

Can I work part-time on a residence permit for study purposes?
A residence permit for study purposes allows you to have a part-time job of up to a maximum of 20 hours per week and 1,040 hours per year.
