Student Life

Studying in Slovakia is not only about a professional career, it is also about getting to know the country, the culture, the nature, etc. Start your academic journey in Slovakia and find out more about its beauties and experience how it is to live and study in a small country with a big heart. Slovak universities offer their students a lot of extracurricular activities, especially when student organisations are involved – you can do sports, sing in a choir, go hiking in the mountains and so much more.

Nowadays the quality of our universities is rapidly increasing. There are 35 higher education institutions (HEIs) in total in Slovakia. Slovak HEIs can offer only accredited study programmes. The language of tuition in general is Slovak, but the HEIs offer also a number of study programmes in other languages, mostly in English, but sometimes also in Hungarian, French, German or Russian: https://www.saia.sk/en/useful-information/study-programmes-in-foreign-languages. Use this map: https://www.saia.sk/en/main/study-in-slovakia/universities-in-slovakia to find the ideal place for your studies in Slovakia.

Tuition fees for study programmes offered in foreign languages (i.e. other than Slovak) are set by each HEI/faculty separately. Fees vary from 490 € to 12,200 € per one academic year. Updated information on tuition fees can be obtained from international relations offices of the respective HEIs/faculties. However, students studying full-time in Slovakia without exceeding the standard length of study do not pay tuition fees, if they study a programme offered in Slovak language. More information about Slovak language courses can be found at: https://www.euraxess.sk/en/main/info/living/daily-life/language-courses.

Living costs for students in Slovakia vary depending on the city, type of accommodation, day-to-day necessities and lifestyle. It is estimated that around 750 € is enough to cover all necessities including rent.

SLOVAKIA – GOOD IDEA

If you choose to study in Slovakia, you can have a lot of Europe at your fingertips – in one day have a breakfast in Budapest (Hungary), a lunch in Bratislava (Slovakia) and a dinner in Vienna (Austria). These three big European capitals are in a very close distance.

Slovakia is a progressive and dynamic countryModern technologies are being applied not only in the car industry, but also e.g. in the production of audio-visual home appliances. Innovations and new services are nowadays an important factor for us. New companies are started every day, life conditions are improving, but we keep our traditional values as well.
