Opened in 1423, the University of Franche-Comté is a multidisciplinary higher education institution. It is renowned for the quality of its teaching, its Centre for Applied Linguistics (CLA), its Olympic Research and Studies Centre (CEROU) and its innovative programs in partnerships with leading industries, among others. We offer a wide range of disciplines covering most academic ﬁelds, from short to long term diplomas.
UFC has 6 faculties and 5 schools and institutes in 5 campuses (the largest being Besançon, followed by Belfort and Montbéliard campuses, Lons-le-Saunier and Vesoul).

We play an active role in building and implementing the Higher Education European Area. As part of the harmonization of the architecture of the European higher education system, UFC implements the three-cycle system (bachelor/master/doctorate, respectively 3, 5 and 8 years of study) as well as the European Credits Transfer System (ECTS) for all UFC degrees.
The University of Franche-Comté hosts more than 25 Research labs and Centers covering all main ﬁelds of Research in connection with Doctoral Schools.
