Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SeAMK) is a multidisciplinary institution of higher education and an efficient actor in education and research, development and innovation (RDI) in the region of South Ostrobothnia in West Finland.

The number of full-time students is about 5000, ten per cent of them are international degree and exchange students, and of academic and other staff members close to 400. SeAMK has 21 Bachelor and 13 Master degree programmes. Five degree programmes are totally taught in English (Bachelor's degree in Automation Engineering, International Business, Nursing and Agri-Food Engineering, and Master's Degree in International Business Management). Also double and joint degree programmes are available in the fields of technology and business. SeAMK has partner universities in more than 50 countries.

SeAMK is rated as the best University of Applied Sciences (UAS) 2020 in Finland by the UAS graduates.

Student Life

Arriving in SeAMK

The best way to arrive in Seinäjoki is to fly to Helsinki and then take a train to Seinäjoki. The quickest train connection from Helsinki Airport to Seinäjoki takes about 2 h 30 min. A tutor student will meet the arriving students at Seinäjoki railway station according to timetables informed beforehand.

Student Housing close to the Campus

Student housing and the Seinäjoki City center are at a convenient walking distance from the SeAMK Frami Campus. Student homes are studio or shared apartments starting from 1 room + kitchen/kitchenette to larger family apartments with 2–3 rooms + kitchen. The rent includes electricity, heat, water, laundry and sauna fees. Internet connection is also included in the rent.

The Frami Campus area is also a home to a number of high-tech companies. This makes it an inspirational place to study, with opportunities for interaction between industry, business, and different fields of study.

Extracurricular activities

The Student Union of Seinäjoki University of Applied Sciences (SAMO) is an association established and run by the students. The union’s diverse objectives range from monitoring the standard of instruction and networking with the Finnish Government to organizing student parties and other leisure time activities. A special social programme is available for international students organised together with the Student Union, the staff of International Mobility Services and the faculty of SeAMK.
